Sustainable events help reduce the impact of events on the environment, improve the financial outcomes and support thriving communities. Using sustainability practices empower the event host organization as a responsible business. Combining active learning and experiential elements, this program is designed to suit event organizers and all MICE operators. Topics will include understanding the business value of sustainability for improving your environmental performance in areas such as food & beverage, transportation, and supply chain management; and effective methods for achieving corporate social responsibility goals. As part of the program, the participants will customize a road map for their own sustainable event.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
*The Sustainable Event Professional Certificate is eligible for 8 hours of Continuing
Education credits (CEs) towards CMP application or recertification. This
program is open to all event professionals (CMPs and non-CMPs).
**This course will be conducted in English.

Mariela McIlwraith, CMP, CMM, MBA Director of Sustainability of the Events Industry Council (EIC) • Events industry professional with specializations in sustainability and pricing • Executive Editor - Events Industry Council Manual, 9th Edition • Co-author - Meet Better: 167 Easy Ways to Make Your Events More Environmentally and Socially Responsible • Co-author - Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Meetings Industry Mariela has taught courses on sustainable event management for the British Columbia Institute of Technology and Centennial College. Her awards include the Convention Industry Council Pacesetter award, Meetings & Incentive Travel Hall of Fame Industry Builder Award, and the peer-nominated #CMP30 Influencers award.

Pat Satkhum, CEM, CIS, SEP has more than 15 years of direct experience in MICE sector especially exhibitions and events industry. She had held position in Operations Department over the past decade, supervising operations in Thailand and International projects such as The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 - an A1 (World Expo Level) horticultural exposition, Honorary Exhibition On the Occasion of the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Throne, Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress and more than other 20 projects . This includes: stakeholders engagement, partnerships and alliances, capability building and training, public engagement, product development, and project governance.
